MSMEs in Service Sector in India

India’s dynamic services sector has grown rapidly in the last decade with almost 72.4 percent of the growth in India’s GDP in 2014-15 coming from this sector. According to estimates based on GDP at constant prices (2004-05), the service sector in India grew by 10.5% in 2009-10 and 9.7% in 2010-11. The growth rate recorded by the service sector was 6.6%, 7.0% and 6.8% in 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively. According to the MSME Annual Report, around 68.2% enterprises in the MSME sector are engaged in the service sector. Thus, the robust growth experienced by MSMEs can be attributed to their steady growth in the service sector.
